Another dragonfly

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted September 6, 201280 views5 comments

Same species as the last couple of posts, but I ran across this one just a little later and in a drier part of the prairie, so it didn't have as much dew on it, though it was just starting to rouse for the day. I watched it groom itself a little but it didn't fly while I was watching it.

7D, 300mm f4 ISL on tripod, f8, 1/500, iso 640, normal processing in CS5. I cropped just a bit off the bottom and right side. Taken at 7:43 am on September 1st.

Your comments and criticisms are sincerely appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

WOW, such detail without being close with a macro. Very impressive Dennis. I like it very much.

As already commented, Dennis, the detail is excellent. I like the uniform color and the way the shape and color of the dragonfly mimics the dead blooms. Excellent image of life on the prairie at he end of summer.

Great detail and nice monochromatic colors. I especially like that it shows the transparency of the wings. Very nicely done!

The monochrome, warm brown is great and really shows off the reds and yellows in the DF. Very nice.
