It has been a long while since I have had the chance to catch up on some photo processing! I have been crazy busy since May 2012 with my Whistler based tour business.
I thought I would post this image that was recently processed for print. I was with Marc A on a cool morning in the eastern sierra's. We were fortunate to get the setting moon with some sweet light

I am heading to the American SW for 6 weeks in a few weeks, and looking forward to playing with my new D800E that I have not used yet
Any comments are always appreciated !!

26 commentsThe moon looks a bit 'odd' though--has it been 'expanded' or something??
The only feedback I might give is it looks tilted to the right and the moon a little blurry. This would certainly sell well. Peaceful and pretty.

I now notice the tilt issue. I will check out the large test print I have to see if it is present when viewing it larger on the wall. I can see what you guys are talking about. As for the moon, it is "blurry", and without detail because it is diffused behind the clouds, and slightly over exposed, which to me is a nice effect. I could have exposed the moon separately, and shown more detail, but then the moon would be smaller, and less present. It is a matter of preference
This is simply a gorgeous image from the Owen's Valley and the Eastern Sierra. We see a few of these with the river and the Sierra in the bg, but this one is a killer image.
For my own personal taste, I think this is a tad over saturated. I dunno, maybe, maybe not. But clearly well within the range of personal choice and vision. and of course I wasn't there, so you have that going for you... ;-)
As far as the tilt goes, I think it's perception. I can see the reasoning, the lay of the land, the distant willows, etc. But to my eye it looks natural and level. I'm guessing the big print will too.
Great imagery.

Lon, yes, the tilt issue is really not there, put more of a optical illusion with the river etc.
It seems that some like the moon and some do not. I personally like it, it is natural and diffused due to the mist and clouds. I feel it adds to the image. I will go back to the raws, and see what detail was there
