Reflected Glory

Looks like fall foliage here in the Big Horns may be short lived. Many trees have already shed their leaves without ever really reaching what I call peak color. However, some trees are putting on a show that makes it worth getting out and about. Early morning light gave plants around this small pond a wash of gold that seemed to echo the blaze of foliage in this tree. I like this shot but have two reservations...the cyan sky and the general busy feeling. Tips for correcting the sky would be most welcome as would be opinions on the composition. Thanks for looking

Nancy, love the colors, as for the sky, if it has nothing to offer, I avoid it if at all possible. You might try a crop just over the top of the Birch, that may work for you. Your comp works for me, I don't think it's that busy at all, also, really like the reflections. Pretty autumn scene Nancy. Well done.

Nicely composed, but I would agree that a crop down to the top of the central tree might work well.

I really like the bottom half of this image. Have you considered going really abstract and cropping down to just above the tops of the shoreline grasses? In so doing, it focuses the attention on that gorgeous reflection surrounded by the frame of warm grasses.

Nancy Lea, the pond and trees are really nice, the sky is too washed out to be valuable. The crop suggestions are good. I don't know what you're using for processing, but you might be able to burn in and maybe color adjust just the sky to get a decent light blue color there depending on your tools. If you use photoshop check out Tony Kuyper's or Ian Plant's web sites. The other idea is to watch the angle that the light is coming from as you set up your picture. If it's side light, using a polarizer can rally let the colors pop while darkening the sky. If the sun is behind or in front of you that won't work.

Very nice, especially with the reflection. Sky maybe feels a bit green. Just got back from a trip. I think I owe you an email reply. Will try and get that out this weekend.

Pleasing fall image overall, I especially like the crisp clear reflections Nancy.
I also like the morning light, the skies my only nit.
Have a great weekend :wavey:
