Light in the Fog

Here us one more image from the fog on Damnation Trail. As I was shooting a shaft of light came through the fog a light up parts of the tree. I would like to know which on everyone likes better. I am torn between the two. I cropped the blue sky off the top of this one to put more focus on the tree. Thanks for all of your comments and critiques.

I like this one best. One of the things I enjoyed most in your other post was the golden light on the foliage. In this one, it is even more pronounced and striking. Great eye and an excellent image

Gotta confess, I am also torn. I like the longer aspect ratio of the first one, maybe because it seems to go with the verticality of the trees, but this one is really unique and interesting because of the golden spotlight. The two compositions are so different, with the nice framing on the right side of the first shot, that it's hard to compare the two, even though they share some of the same trees. If I were forced to decide, I might pick the first one because of the composition.

I missed the first one, but I had a look now. I think I prefer the first. The composition feels more balanced and harmonic. BUT, the light in this one is quite magic. Both are interesting images for me.

I like this one for the shaft of light. But I like the blue sky in the other.

Cool shot, esp DOF. Would like to see in b&w out of curiosity.
