Back to abstracts again. Dahlias did not vanish like I thought they would - they lasted until last weekend pretty nicely.

ND300s, AFS60mm F/2.8 Micronikkor, F/5.6, 1/500 Sec, ISO400, Morning Sun softened by diffuser and handheld. Needed more tries than normal due to the windy autumn conditions.

Thanks a lot for your comments on It's Autumn. I will clone out that stump many of you mentioned while I print this big. Is'nt feedback a wonderful thing !!

I love these abstracts. The gentle washes of color are a joy to behold. The two sharp edges, one near the top and one near the bottom, balance each other nicely.

Consummate art, Ram ! The yellow to pink pastels are sheer delight, as is the sweep of the petal line.

This is gorgeous Ram. Excellent lines and flowing forms. Thank you for all of the advice and good feedback on my abstracts. If you were to suggest a shorter lens for me to use for some of these, would you suggest something in the 60mm range or the 105mm range?

Thanks again.

Nathan

Nathan - Would suggest 60mm range instead of the 105mm range. These abstracts are made at 1:1 magnification and they are next to impossible to do using Tripods. 60mm being light, enables handholding with some sound technique helping even more.

The trick in making these abstracts is to be as close to the petals as possible and at the same time making slight adjustments to align parallel to the petal edges. Tripod will be frustrating to say the least. Obviously its not going to be easy initially but after some tries you will get a good feel for it. The working distance for all my abstracts is in the range of 3-4 inches or less measured from the front of the lens.

Excellent abstract again Ram, this one has graceful sweeping lines that lead the eye on a magical mystery tour..
Was that before your time?
Or I like Bills comment - "You're really showing off with this one. Spectacular! >=))>

The interplay between the two lines that are in focus and the soft light and color make this pure art, Ram! :toast:
