Taken in the early summer in our backyard. This guy just seemed to have a sassy look about him.

John, nice you get Cardinals where you live and they are fun to observe. This is a very pretty bird in your image and you caught him in typical habitat.

Maybe just me, but I think light was very harsh at the time you took this photo. I believe there is a lack of detail on the bird and that harsh shadow is detracting.

With that said, other viewers might feel differently. You should get more opportunities to photograph this species, they stay in our area all year round.

Nice pose and colors here John. I think you have lost some details in the reds, if you lower the saturation a bit you may pick some of it back up. :toast:

Have added a re-post with lower saturation, hope detail is better.

Hi John, I definitely think the repost looks better! Seems to show more detail and that shadow on the bird is lessened. I think it is a good photo overall, conditions aren't always optimal. I have this issue with my images especially when I shoot middle of the day.

But, yes it is better, and it is important you took the time to rework the image! Have a good one and I look forward to seeing more!
