Going With the Flow II

This is another composition from one of the dry washes up on the east side. I spent about ten minutes trying to compose a microcosm of a section of the fallen tree trunk that is out of the frame here. I couldn't really come up with anything I liked. Then I turned to my left and instantly knew this would work much better as an intimate landscape instead. It was a nice moment.

Another scene I would have walked right passed! I really like this, and all the leading lines are a treat. Very well processed, as well. Not sure what to think about some of the immediate fg on the bottom, but really, it doesn't have a huge impact on this. Great timing with the fall colors...

Interesting--definitely counter-intuitive to delegate all that color to the back. I like the non-traditional approach--im just not sure it works here. If your subject is the trunk, the problem is i keep looking in back. But im just jealous cause i wont get to Zion this year...

I really like the details in the larger version Jim. Very unique perspective. My only suggestion would be to slightly burn down the highlights on the sand in the middle of the image. That area is too bright and my eye gets stuck there instead of flowing back to the nice colors in the trees.

This is really nice Jim! I find this comp really interesting...and I like it alot. Some wonderful texture and detail in the fallen tree and beautiful fall color in the background. Really enjoy this in the larger version!

Lots of interesting details. The trunk does lead me to the great color back there. Love the leaves on the ground too.

Another very interesting comp with good light, natural color, and drama.

Very nicely composed and captured Jim. I like the way the truck offers great details and then leads your eye to the color.
