Blue Ridge Fall

Nikon D300 F20 1/10 ISO 200. From the Blue Ridge mountains on Skyline Drive. The sun was just breaking through the cloud covered mountains at peak color. Should I have included the sun coming through at the top ? Critiques please.

I would brighten the mid-tones as it might bring out the color in the trees and the light rays. Crop looks just right.

Crop out alittle more sky and bump up the colors a little more red and orange. Love the scene and the Blue ridge mountains !

Andrew,

The light rays make the scene I think. While I might agree that you could boost the fall colors and/or even some contrast, I think as you've processed and presented this, it's fitting given the conditions. I think the crop works as is, but I think close to where you could either crop just a tad more, or have included the sun. Might just depend on how much remains up top and how that sky looks. But I think it works well - it's really the rays and not the sun itself that's important.

I like the comp and the colors. Fall look like a great time to visit. The processing doesn't look quite right, I guess. Have to agree that maybe the mid-tones could be expanded. Also feels a bit warm, even with the fall colors.
