Fall on the East Side

The first storm of the season dropped a few inches of snow on Mt. Wood in early October. It didn't last long, but a lot more has fallen since this was taken and, hopefully, this winter will be better than last year. The area around Mt. Wood, north of the June Lake Loop, has become one of my favorite locations for fall color in the Eastern Sierra and I've returned many times over the last few years. This is a manual blend of two exposures for dynamic range.
Thanks and comments welcome.

Beautiful light and color, Rudy, and I like the layers. The exposure looks perfect to me, so nice job with the blend. Overall, a top notch image of this area. :toast:

I like the layers here too, nice work on the comp! An interesting and impressive scene with wonderful light and colors. I really enjoy looking at this Rudy. The large version is a treat!

Yes, the large version really shows how good this image is. Great color and light, and the layered comp works well to convey the depth. Beautiful shot!

Really nice, Rudy, well balanced comp with a nice mix of sky and trees/mountain. It looks just a tad dull on my monitor, maybe a slight bump in saturation would help. :wavey:

Really like the repeating layers and the differing textures and details in each layer as the eye moves back. Nice.

Very nicely done. Exposure was handled well. Nice blend. I agreed with Stan on the saturation issue until I looked at the larger version. Now I'm not sure. I would have to see it both ways I guess. Bottom line--I like it a lot.

Rudy,

Wow, I don't think I've ever thought about putting California and the Eastern Sierra in the same sentence as Colorado, but this has crossed my mind! What a wonderful moutain/aspen landscape image. Toss in a baby Sierra Wave and you've got it all! This is excellent, one of your best.

So this must be what is known as the Parker Bench area? above Grant lake on the roads up there towards Parker lake? I can see why this is a favorite area.

Beautiful image Rudy.

Wonderful land layers with some spectacular color. For some reason the clouds doesn't look quite right here. It feels more "telephoto" than the rest of the scene.

Superb, Rudy! So well composed with a strong textured FG and lovely colors ascending
into the clouded sky. An image that included elements of the two seasons of fall and winter.
Well done and looking forward to more of your postings.

Where's this? I recognize the mountain, but don't remember seeing such a large grouping of Aspen in this area. Anyway, it's a great scene, and captured beautifully.

Thanks for the comments. :wavey:

Lon, Chris, This is the Parker Bench area, which is accessible from a 4 wheel drive road just off the dirt road to Parker Lake.
Thanks,
Rudy
