Local Color

I am just now starting to realize that there are some beautiful local canyons within a few miles from my house. They have housing complexes and business parks on the ridges above, but along the canyon floor are gorgeous stands of California Sycamores that are at peak fall color right now. While not as vibrant as my beloved aspens in autumn, they do provide some nice colors within the confines of the normally drab suburbia and cityscape. Recently, the weather has cooperated and produced some morning fog and drizzle, so it's two for one. What a bargain.

Canon 5Dmk2, 90mm TS-E. Two shot stitch. Compression kills.

Hey Jimmy,

Ah, the California Sycamore! What a wonderful autumn image of your "local color." I really like the twisting, intertwined trunks you captured here. The trunks, the fall color and the foreground interest all combine for an excellent comp. Beautifully captured.

The comp and colors work real well. This came out great. I am on the fence about the blue/cyan cast on the tree trunks. Nice to be able to get a fine image locally that doesn't involve a certain beach spot.

What a great find! The textures, shapes...and the light source on those golden leaves and in the grass (rt side)...superb. I think your processing enhanced this (saturation and brightness) quite nicely. Excellent. TShift lens ...not bad!

Nice energetic grouping of the tree trunks. The cool tree trunk tones are a bit overwhelming but they sure do work well with the warm toned leaves.

Jimmy,

It is an alluring composition and the accents of color make this very compelling. I really like what you have done here.

A real beauty near your home. I like the colors. The FG grasses add nice color and textures.
Good detail throughout.

Sometimes the subtle areas can really sing. The patterns of the trunk combined with the vegetation are attractive. I almost wish the distant ridge in the upper left was covered by closer vegetation like it is in the right to keep the visual consistent.

Quite nice Jimmy. The sycamore bark is a study in itself. The range of color and detail make this work for me.

Always nice to have some little oasis for photography close to home. This looks like a place I would enjoy very much. I like this a lot, colors an light work well, as does the composition. I like the twisting "movement" of the stems.

This is very nice, Jimmy. The foreground grasses are interesting too. It's a busy scene, but the sycamore pull everything together.

Your image is a very appealing composition for me, Jimmy. The intertwined trunks especially with their slightly off-centered placement are a strong focal element to me, interestingly balanced by the smaller trunk at the left. The autumn foliage adds a wonderful color palette to my eye, while the darker foreground grasses anchore the image aptly.
