Numb Chimera

Well, we finally got a few flurries in Ar today, and it really got me excited about some good winter precipitation!! Of course, it amounted to nothing, but it did help me decide to go ahead and post this capture..

This was taken last winter in the same area as my first post in this forum, the Blanchard Spring Creek area. I arrived an hour before dawn, setup in the middle of the frigid creek, and waited for the slightest bit of pre-dawn light to appear. This shot was taken 25 mins before the sun actually rose, allowing me to take an 8 min exposure to accentuate the high level of water and create more atmosphere per the vision i had for the finished product..

Thanks for looking and all c/c!!

Very nicely crafted Justin; I like that misty water and the contrast with those clear rocks. You must have been freezing!

An amazing capture of this unique moment for me, Justin. I do enjoy the subtlety and lightweighted character of the image. The elements at the left show enough detail to make for a nice focal point to me, while the other larger rocks lead me through the whole image in a pleasant way.

Justin, I think you did an excellent job capturing your vision! This really has quite an amazing feel and the misty blue tones convey the cold nicely. I like this very much and feel you did an excellent job with this! :toast:

Very nice light and atmosphere. The grad is a surprise. You certainly used it effectively.

Justin,

You've captured a wonderful mood and atmosphere - and I must say you captured your vision - quite well. I'm really enjoying the cool toning in the water and the very long exposure is working beautifully here (although some don't care for the effect...) A well balanced composition and excellent image all the way around. Great work.

The long exposure creates a nice mist throughout creating the mood. The cool blue palette conveys the winter cold scene nicely.
