Other Moon Dogs inspired me to try. I could not get the details on the moon without loosing the clouds nice texture.
Is it acceptable this way? or I have to mix 2 photos?

Would this be called a "moonbow"? I may be imagining it, but it would appear there is some spectral from blue to green, yellow, and red through refraction by the water particles in the clouds. Looks like an eye; reminescent of those Lon Chaney movies when I was a kid. I think there is enough in this with the moon blown out, and in my imagination, I'm wondering if whether there would not be too much going on with the details of lunar craters evident. I like it this way.

Moon is too blown for my taste and much too centered. :frown:
Keep shooting :toast:

Ive seen this comp before so it's nothing new, although there's nothing inherently wrong with that. Since the 'idea' behind it makes the moon sort of an 'eye' as subject, i have no issue with the centering. I'd keep it blown, chances are there wasnt a huge amount of detail to the eye anyways. My only suggestion here is to tone down the blue sat slightly, it's a bit strong here. :wavey:

I agree 100% with Stan here. It's a nice image but nothing that holds my attention for very long.

What strikes me most about this shot is the spectral change between the center and margins. Definitely different. No way to have the moon not blown out and have it work naturally - if the moon were composited-in the color change would be unbelievable too!

I think I have to redo the shot with less moon, or better at twilight. So that I can equalize as much as possible the moon exposure with the surrounding. I agree with Stan and others that it is not interesting, and I need to include other elements in the composition. But I could not, because of the strong light from the moon. I like the Halo around the moon and how it changed the cloud's colors, so I will try again later in the moon month or day time.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

The moon's a little bright...but maybe it was a bright night so I wouldn't worry about it too much. It all depends on what you're going for here... I like the mystery
