Into the Andes

This is a photo of Quito, Ecuador, showing the urban sprawl into the Andes Mountains. Quito is built into a valley and in order to grow, it must spread into the Andes. This is causing significant issues with traffic, water supply and more.

Canon 1D MkIII, Canon 100-400mm @ 100mm. ISO 400, 1/800 sec, f/9. Tripod mounted

Paul,
Great advantage point for this capture, over population is a problem that mankind will have to someday deal with in a serious way, not in my life time however. The first ridge above the tree line to the right looks like the shape of a face. You can easily make out the nose, two eyes and the brow. Cool place to retire to, Well Done.

Mike, thank you for your comments. Yes, I did see the man in the mountain. Here, it seems those are everywhere I think owing to the many, many peaks that are the Andes. In Yunguilla, they have the "Sleeping Lady"; in Ingapirca, they have the "Inca Warrior". I've even spotted a few others that are quite obvious. Hey, maybe I can name one, kinda like a discovery!

Oh, and yes, Ecuador is a really cool place to retire. We absolutely love it here, but you don't want to get me started on that.

Thank you, again!

Nice image of a "growing" issue throughout the world.
