Captured yesterday at sunrise, temp was a balmy -15 degrees. More of a documentary shot but really enjoyed the wash of color in the sky. Colors are exactly as witnessed on my monitor; so curious how it looks on your end?

Larger version included.

Capture Date: Jan 1st, 2013
Camera Settings: ISO 50, 29mm @ f/8, 0.6 sec

I'd say this is not just a documentary photograph. I think it conveys emotion quite nicely. The blue tones convey the cold and the expansive nature of this image conveys the isolation of the scene. When I think of images of the Tetons I am usually in awe of the scale of the mountains yet here you have composed this in such a way as to yield a different perspective. The mountains feel small and the inclusion of the moon further enhances this feeling as well. More than that, it makes me as the viewer feel very small by comparison.

I like it Drew, the transition in colour in the sky looks good. I totally agree with Brian about the inclusion of the moon as it does indeed put the viewer in the shot.

Beautiful soft colors and the feeling of 'cold' comes across very well. Nice work.

I find this beautiful because of the subtle colors on the horizon and the sense of perspective added by the moon. With the cool tones, I can just "hear" the silence.

Drew,

What a beautiful winter landscape from the TNP. The colors are especially wonderful. I suspect the position of the moon was more of a compromise to keep both the moon and the highest peaks in the frame, but regardless of the motive, I like the semi-extreme positioning of the moon. although I'm a great proponent of the rule of thirds, I also enjoy stepping out of that mold every once in a while and this works very well for me.

The only minor, minor suggestion would be a very slight increase in contrast in the mountain range - but certainly in the realm of personal choice.

Beautiful landscape.

Nice. It has a great subtlety to it for the often dramatic subject.
