I often find the orange cast one gets from shooting directly into the sun to be objectionable. I shoot into the sun quite often, and most get deleted. This one survived the cull.

Sunsets are often monochromatic, so I was wondering if any would get posted for this WC. The gentle orange glow is very nice and the big sweeping curve made by the boats and the channel markers adds to the sense of a gentle, quiet day's end. Beautiful shot.

Great sunset shot, Buck! The elements are arranged very nicely in this with the two boats pointing to the left and the pier on the right. The sun right in the middle works well with this comp being directly lined up with the front sailboat. I'm assuming there was some kind of haze that allowed you to get this direct shot of the sun without much flare. I like the color gradations in the sun and the overall color cast. Looks like a peaceful ending to a hazy summer day.

peaceful, with great color. You controlled the sun exposure nicely. Beautiful, well balanced scene.

The compression is nice and the masts pointing upward suit the vertical frame well. The warm light does give a restful feel.

Peaceful, serene. I find the orange cast extremely appealing in your image. :toast:

Beautiful soft light and serene scene Buck. Great comp with the line of boats and bouy's leading to the setting sun. Not muonch to fault with this one other than maybe darkening or adding contrast to the hills in the distance as they seem a little light to me.

I have to agree with you about the good, the bad, and the ugly of sunset imagery. You work the good light and then turn and catch a couple of sun shots and then delete most of them. But a few are worth keeping. You made some interesting choices here in the processing. How would this look with a bit of ND filtering added above the horizon? This composition has excellent flow from top to bottom.

Yes! Masterful composition on this as well as fine control of the light for a most desirable color cast. Congratulations.
