Cookie Cutter Falls

This photograph was taken in Michigan in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park on the lower end of the Presque Isle River. I used a Nikon D7000 with a Nikon 18 - 35 mm wide angle zoom lens. The camera was mounted on a tripod. This photograph was accepted into the Juried Stars of Texas Art Show in February. I would appreciate any comments or critiques.

Welcome. Your image is hard to see at the size posted, thus, critiques may be difficult to make. It does appear to be fine though. Seems like good exposure and composition. I do see the profile of a dog's face in the middle rock! And it's about to bite on a bone.
FYI - you can post an image here up to 720 pixels on the long side. Just keep it under 200kb. Also, for the larger image, you can post up to 1200 pixels wide, keeping it under 300kb. If you are using PS, you can control this by using the Save For Web tool under File. Take advantage of the maximum sizes. Looking forward to more posts AND comments from you.

Hi Thomas! Welcome to the Landscape Gallery of NPN. That is a nice shot of the Presque Isle River. I always enjoy seeing how the swirling water has carved out that rock. I have phtographed this place many times myself and always enjoy the view from that footbridge. The Porcupine Mountains are one of my favorite places. Cheers!

Welcome to NPN, Thomas!

As the size of the file you posted here is rather small, I took a look at this image on your website and it looks great there in my opinion. The centered composition works very well for me, especially as there are enough interesting details on both sides. Your choice of shutterspeed conveys the sense of flow nicely to me.

I am looking foreward to see more of your work here!

Thomas, welcome to NPN and the Landscape Gallery!

Sure looks like a lovely image - and not to belabor the point, but it's too small to give a fair evaluation. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it, but if you have any questions on sizing and prepping for the web, just ask away. You may also find some helpful articles under the "Instruction" navigation link at the top of the page. My one comment would be that green foliage on the right and lower right corner, LRC, looks soft. But very hard to tell if it's, motion, jpg compression, focus or sharpening.

To clarify Michael's comments about posting sizes, the limits are 720px/300kb (moved up from 200kb quite a while ago,) and the 1200px version can't exceed 500kb.

Let us know if you have any questions. Great to have you here and we look forward to your images and participation in the forums and galleries.
