Spring beauties

by Carolyn Derstine

Gallery: FloraPosted April 29, 201399 views8 comments
These Spring Beauty flowers were growing wild in a bed of periwinkle in one of my flower beds. I liked the color contrast provided by the periwinkle flowers in the background.

Canon EOS 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/3.5 for 1/200 sec. ISO 100. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Lovely, lively composition, Carolyn ! The periwinkle do set the main subject off beautifully - well spotted !

Beautiful composition, and excellent selective focusing. Post processing couldn't be better either.

Oh, that light is so soft, but still makes the little lovelies glow against the background. Nice color combination, too.
Interesting flowers. There is so much variability in these, even within the same species.

Carolyn, I love the composition that seems to divide the rectangular composition in two triangles. The colors of these little flowers are delicate and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
