Just for fun ...

This is of course a picture of a piece of picture sandstone that I bought a couple of years ago at a rock shop in Springdale Utah near Zion. (I bought the picture sandstone ... not a picture of the picture sandstone. ) The actual dimensions of the stone in this picture are about 18" x 7.5".

This shows off the beauty picture sandstone very well. The layering is great and creates such a strong sense of distance.

I've never heard of this before. Thanks for posting it. It looks like an abstract pen-and-ink drawing with watercolor washes. Cool.

Now this definitely looks like abstract art that should be hanging above someones' sofa, Jim. The placement of your lines for this comp is well done and the pano crop works great for this. I like the neutral color with the subtle shadings. The occasional little half "suns" peeking above the lines at various places add some nice variety. This sandstone certainly does make a pretty "picture".

Well, the actual piece is not quite sofa size. I display the actual piece on the dresser in my bedroom. It's about 20" x 10".

Thanks for the comments.

Wow, really nice, Jim, and a great abstraction. At first glance though it was a wood carving. I would have done that myself...bought a piece of the place I was visiting. In fact, after a recent trip to FL, came back with a small block of limestone. Zion is high up on my bucket list too. The neutral color and flowing lines really make it, and I swear those are wood knots poking up. Would look nice on a wall mounted and framed.
