Say's Phoebe

Say’s Phoebe perched on Mullein with a background typical of habitat. Frenchglen, OR. I was surprised by the trim lines of this smaller bird; it's very sleek.
GH-3, Lumix 100-300 4-5.6 @ 275 (crop factor 2x), tripod; f 7.1, 1/2000, ISO 800, huge crop for comp. NIK Viveza.
Thanks for viewing, and comments appreciated. Hope my birding photography and posts are improving?

Nice light and a very inquisitive pose. Looks as though you have nice detail-a larger pose would be nice but understanding the crop that might not have been possible. :toast:

Great pose of a beautiful bird on a perfect perch, very nice. Light is just a little hard, but you have handled it well - I'd be proud to have this shot.

This held up really well for the crop, great job processing it Catherine, I like the eye contact, perch and composition, oh I loved the midnight heron as well.  :toast:

Like this a lot Catherine! Nice soft light, fine detail and I am a sucker for mullein perches (if you can't tell from my previous posts over the last 5 years). :toast:

Lovely composition and good detail in the Phoebe, Catherine. I like the side lighting and the bg as well. A very well done image.

Nice work! I, too, have a spot spot for Mullein as a perch.

Wonderful perch, pose and background, everything works for me, nice job in lining up this shot and paying attention to the background.

I'm a little late to the party, but this looks great, Catherine. A little earlier (or later) in the day would give you a softer light and would eliminate the dark shadows, but you did fine with what you had. :toast:

Thanks so much for all the comments!
Photos of this bird were made about 4:00 p.m. with the sun just at the top of some higher hills behind where I was standing. I added some contrast in post-processing. From your helpful comments, I better dial it back a bit.

Another look at Say's Phoebe is coming-- in flight to the perch. It will be in Photo Art due to major alterations; you'll see why! Hope you'll drop by for a look and a comment.
Good birding, everyone!

Great work Catherine, help up well with the crop.
I especially like the soft s-curve of this interesting mullein perch. :toast:
