A little bit of dumpster diving today going through various folders from last year. Going through my North Rim images, I found this one untouched. Opened it up and played around with the processing a bit. Not sure if I am completely happy with the overall presence, but it's one of those images I will probably start processing over and over, so suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Here is a quick repost just to see if it makes more difference.

It has an aline encounter vibe ! I think it is fantastic. Love the hint of teal on the horizon !I like the richness of the first !

My preference is the first as it just seems richer. You captured some wonderful drama in this image, Peter. I love the colors in the scene and those crepuscular rays are impressive. Glad you went dumpster diving.

The light beams are sweet. I like how you can see the detail of the rock formations through the light. Good work so far.

Nice capture of the rays Peter. I prefer the first post with less red. It just feels like the image should be kept soft and subtle. Beautiful shot!

Peter,

Fantastic rays beaming down on the canyon, awesome! I think I prefer the second because the first appears a bit more purple on the far canyon walls, beyond the rays. Still a little bit magenta on the repost, but I don't think out of bounds - there's some crazy light going on!

Question though, you posted the second to see if "it" made a difference, but you didn't mention why you posted or what you did differently. Just curious, no biggie.

Glad you found this one!

These light beams in the canyon are amazing. My vote is for the first image. I like the colors and tones in it better. Good job' hope you show us your final version. Chet

Nice imaging, Peter. Thank you for not making any silly religious references to the light!

Thanks everyone.

Lon, after I posted the first one I immediately went back and started tweaking it and pushed the reds and reduced the yellows to see if it would appear more natural throughout and posted it for comparison before hearing more feedback.

Outstanding capture. I wish I had this level of quality in my "dumpster" files.

This is very cool with all of the interesting light and layers that go on forever. I much prefer the original post.

Great image! Awesome rays! I like the second one for what appears to be increase in saturation and detail. I do wish the two blotches of light rays on the right can be cleaned up a bit but that’s of-course a personal choice.

A grand sight, for sure! Love the light, which this is all about. I personally like the repost, for all the land, because it showcases the beautiful redrock in the canyon. It does seem that the sky (in both versions, but more so in the second) is a tad oversaturated/vibrantized (is that a word? ). But of course, from personal experience, I've witnessed some out-of-this-world light, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was natural! Again, fantastic shot of an amazing location!

Thanks everyone. I did push the colors here particularly in the sky and in the landscape and desaturated the space between the top clouds and the canyon rim. The light was really yellow/gold, but I wanted to get a little more artistic with the processing. I ended up processing a version that sorta mixes the two versions together, but probably closer towards the 2nd version.
