On my final visit to this incredible location, the weather cooperated and the sunset painted the sky in yellow and blue.

Looks like you had some nice skies at the Bacon Wave. The composition works for me, but I do feel the shadow tones are a bit muddy, especially along the horizon and near the sun. Maybe some of this is from some strong shadow recovery. Also, the foreground seems a bit bright compared to the rest of the scene.

Great looking scene! I hope to get out into those areas sometime in the next year or two, for obvious reasons.
I think the foreground might be a tad bit bright and the background a tad bit dark for a natural look. Just a slight alteration to each and I think this shots will really sing!
Thanks for sharing Mark!
Edit: I see Ben mentioned the exact same thing while I was typing.

Nice comp here and it looks like the sky cooperated. Ben and Johan made some valid points and I do agree with them. However, to me the yellow in the sky looks off and out of context with the rest of the scene. I think reducing the yellow and pushing the orange and reds a little in the sky will make this appear more natural along with the suggestions from Ben and Johan. Definitely worth working to perfect!

I love this part of our country. You captured it beautifully. The sun rays are exquisite.

I like your perspective. My only wish would be for a little more contrast throughout. Beautiful sky.

I actually don't mind the bright foreground areas as it really shows off the sandstone, even if it does sacrifice a natural look to some degree. My main critique of this otherwise amazing scene is that the sky is looking quite a bit too green/yellow for the light, and I would make shifts toward magenta and red as Peter notes.

I agree with what has been stated. It is a strong image and would be worth tweaking to get it right.

Thank you all for your comments. I reprocessed the image with your suggestions and am really pleased with the result. Here is the revised image...

What an improvement with the revised version! I would back off just a bit on the exposure so you're not completely blowing out your highlights in the sky and would also add a bit more contrast. Real nice image Mark.
