Title is "40 Mile Flats in Full Dress". Taken approx. 40 miles inland from Valdez, Alaska alongside the Tiekel River. The fall colors in this area can be incredible with lots of oranges, yellows and reds mixed together with the dark greens of the spruce. A little fresh snow on the peaks made for an nice accent. You can see a little bit of the highway on the far left (see the large version) that qualifies the shot for this challenge.

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f8.0, 1/1000

I must have driven past here 20 times, coming and going to Anchorage. I always wanted to stop, but never had the time. You've done the location justice. :toast:

Very nice mountain scene, Gary. I really like the mountains in the background and the colorful trees on the mountain sides. IMO a bit more lightening and saturation on these trees would help them "pop" a bit more. The snow and the fluffy clouds all add great elements to this scene.

I like the POV so you have a split river in the foreground. Nice capture of a beautiful time of year - the kind of image an artist might choose to use as a reference photo

Neat scene, Gary, the river makes a great leading line and the colors are very inviting. This does feel dark, but the whites in the clouds and snow look just right. After spending some time looking, I think that dodging the dark area left of center would add interest there a provide better visual balance. Right now interest is focused at the brighter edges away from the middle.
