WC-603 Incoming Storm

A few years ago, we were having a dreary summer. I watched the evening news/weather report and noticed on the satellite shot that the only place in Alberta with any possible chance of a sunny day was down around Milk River... so next day, that's where I went.

I got to the fringe of the cloud cover, and turning back, this is what it looked like. This image really showcases the skies that were all around that day.

Canon 40D, 17-85mm lens @ 47mm, 1/125 sec at f/8.0, ISO 250. Processed using Photoshop and NIK.

Karen, All I can say is that this image as a rural landscape is fantastic :jump: That was great light and you took full advantage of it. Thanks very much for sharing this image.

Gorgeous sky in this image. Really beautiful, as though painted. Love the textured foreground and very tall barn also.

Fantastic clouds and your exposure really captures the definition & detail. Classic thirds composition and all is good. Nice shot, Karen!

Karen, The movement in the clouds and colour of the sky really make this shot. Excellent preparation as well to take a chance on finding that open sky shot. :toast:

That's an awesome sky, Karen, and the weathered barn sets it off perfectly. Looks like some truly nasty weather moving in from the right. Great job of showing off prairie weather.

Fantastic moody sky you have captured here, Karen! All that open space really allows a broad unobstructed view of the sky. I like your comp with the inclusion of the rustic barn. My only minor thought would be to crop up a bit more from the bottom to place even more emphasis on the sky. . .but also great as is. Nice result from you being a "weather chaser".
