Tafoni Panel

This is a sandstone abstract similar in some respects to the tafoni images posted previously on NPN by Anil Rao and others. Like those images, this shot was taken along the coast in Northern California. I liked the cascading patterns in the stone along with the warm/cool color contrast.

Hope this works for folks...I greatly appreciate your comments either way. Compression is perhaps a bit harsh here, but I think the image holds up well enough nonetheless.

Canon 5DII, 70-200L at 200mm, f/11, 0.5 second, ISO 100. This image consists of six individual files blended for depth of field.

The soft light and composition work very well to illustrate the interesting shapes and textures, but what really makes this exceptional is the color. In other words, I like what you like. More importantly, I think this is the sort of image that will appeal to a broad audience who will be attracted immediately by the colors, and continue to study the soft forms and textures. Great find and vision, and excellent details.

Love the blue and browns in this image Phil as well as the textures. The graceful line also work very well.

I agree--nice abstract! I can see a couple different crops here; persoanlly i like both the bottom 2/3 and the top 2/3 better than the whole thing here, the top and bottom parts seem more cohesive and the whole seems to mix two different patterns. But I like it as is too.

Interesting mix of cool and warm tones. Very tactile image , a fine abstract. I find a slight crop off the bottom, just above the small dimple makes the image more balanced. Very minor and works either way.

A cool intimate abstract, and I like the warm cool contrast, too.

Lots here to enjoy from the warm/cool colors to the lines and textures. Looks like the perfect place for even more intimate abstracts. Beautifully done, Phil.

Nice mix of color and lines. I like this one a lot. My daughter just started at UC Davis and I've been up there about 3 times this year.
