Spring Moss

In hind sight, I can't figure out what got me out walking in the woods on a rainy spring day, but I did find this moss blooming. Based on web searching, I think it's Fire Moss (Ceratodon purpureus). This was taken with the camera sitting on the ground with my hand under the lens to set the angle. (5D, 100mm macro, 1/100s, f/6.3, iso 800)

Ronald, yes these are less than 2 inches tall.

I like the OOF blooms forming the background. These are quite small, yes?

This is lovely, Mark! I really like this low POV and your choice of DOF. The front moss stems have pleasing lines and the raindrops just add to their beauty. I like the echo of these stems and drops in the OOF background and the purple color tops it off nicely.

Another great shot Mark, especially for this challenge. This has a very nice 3D look with the focus on the front stage and the nicely blurred mosses in the BG. A little rain never hurt anyone much. . .

Wow, never knew moss actually bloomed! Your shot evokes a sense of fragility and the blurry background images serve to reinforce the main subject. Nicely done Mark.
