James: Welcome to NPN in general and to the finest Flora gallery on the planet in particular. This is a fine first post here. I especially like your DOF management and the BG. My only small nit is the top bloom touching the top of the frame; a bit more room there would work better for me. You can also post significantly larger images which does make critique a little easier. The normal post can be up to 720 pixels on the long side of the shot and a total of up to 300 Kb and you may also post a larger version up to 1200 pixels on the long side and up to 500 Kb. Hi James. I like your first post - just wish it were a bit larger. I like the way you separated the flora from the complementary bg. As Bill mentioned, a bit more room at the top would make this even better. Thanks for sharing.

You are off to a great start. I specially like your effort in getting a clean background and using the right DOF to put the subjects into good focus.

Welcome to NPN. Nice flower photo in very good light but unfortunately too small. The top flower is very close to the frame border, this a bit distracting. You should allow a little bit more space around this nice flower. Square format would work well here.

I think this is a pretty nice image, James. I go along with others's comments about the excellence of the dof; my only suggestion would be to set the flower a bit more to the R - I think more space on the L side and less to the R would give a better balance.
