Back Yard Blue Jay

I have quite a population of Blue Jays around my yard and I happened to look out my kitchen window and spied this beautiful guy sitting on the ground with the late afternoon sun hitting in such that it highlighted his beautiful colors. I grabbed my camera and made this shot through the kitchen window at 400mm. I assume this is an appropriate shot for the Man & Nature category in that the presence of these beautiful birds certainly enhance the ambiance of my yard.

Shot with a Canon 70D, Canon 100-400 L lens, f5.6, 1/500 ISO 800

Wonderful shot Sandy, nice that you caught the eye in the sunlight between the shadows. A couple of stops down on the aperture might have provided enough DOF to bring the tail feathers into sharper focus. Thanks for sharing it. :toast:

Thanks John, it was on of those grab and shoot things and sure enough, I went click and he went away! :) It really would have enhanced it to get the tail feathers in tack sharp focus.
