Lake Louise in B&W

What a spectacular place Lake Louise is. There is nothing special about the angle since it is only 1000 yards from the main parking lot and throngs of people with there I Pads and expensive gear lining up on the shoreline to shoot whatever they saw and take selfies on there phones in a circus type atmosphere. This is late afternoon and right before I shot this a avalanche boomed out like a dynamite explosion tons of snow fell from the glacier straight away. Most of the folks there had no idea what happened, but if you look up the v formed by the converging mountain slopes to the first bit of greyish snow and to the immediate left you can spot the fresh white snow slightly visible. The four canoes in the left of Lake Louise magnify the grandeur of the whole scene.

Pretty dark. I'd like to see some detail in the shadows. I'd make it a stop or two brighter.

Very cool scene. Would have been great to see more of the dust kicked up by the avalanche. woohoo

This image brings back good memories for me. Not as a photographer but doing business in Calgary and having a great meal at the lodge.. Such a beautiful place. For me, Rick, the shot is on the dark side and needs some more tonal range. It's all there, just needs a little more coaxing in the processing. Thanks for posting.

I like the drama of the comp., but find myself wishing for more details in the mountains. How neat to see and hear the avalanche. The repost is a nice improvement, but still seems dark in the mountain sides.

Black and white works well hiese. Beautiful and dramatic scene.I'd prefer the repost since there are some more details in the dark areas.

Beautiful scene Rick with a nice comp. The repost looks better to me. I could see pulling out a bit more shadow detail yet but very nice as is.
