Snow Stomp

I'm sure you're getting tired of Northern Hawk Owl images by now, but I thought I'd hazard another post. This image was taken earlier than the two previous images, and out in a large field where the Owl has been successfully hunting. Here he was kicking up some snow after having just driven his head into the base of the snow covered grasses attempting to uncover a meal.

Really nice capture here Charles. The exposure, even with all the snow, looks great. I love the outstretched foot showing the talons. My only wish is that his head was turned a bit more so that both eyes were visible. That's a small nit. With images of this quality, we are not getting tired of them. Keep em coming.

Nice! Not tired of them at all but jealous of your good fortune at having the opportunity to photograph them. Unfortunately for me they don't make it down to Texas.

I'm not tired of these images - I've only seen a couple in the wild.

The snow on the owl's face is a nice element of this.

Cool image Chuck, neat action. If you think you have enough pixels you could crop a bit tighter to try and eliminate the oof grasses on the right. :toast:

No way I'm getting tired of seeing these. For me, the stronger, defined shadow suggests much stronger lighting and so I would like to see the snow closer to white. The OOF grasses on the right are a little bothersome, but I'd still love to have something this nice in my own files. Keep them coming.

Another great image Chuck! Takes me into the owl's life. The look from his eye is fantastick.
