Bear Creek

Decided to take a break from this long winter and post something without the snow and ice. This is a picture I made early in the morning with fog along Bear Creek not far from my home. I had a log cabin about 50 yards from this spot and so much enjoyed this area along the creek and the Wisconsin River. This creek runs into the WI River about 100 yards from this spot. Thanks for looking.

Very nice comp and great atmosphere Nick, especially up in the URC. The fog with the downed trees/branches in the water sets a great mood. :toast:

A photographs mood is what's most important. I feel you captured a very mysterious mood here. Great work. Motion blur in the foreground is a tad distracting.

Once again, a simple scene presented wonderfully. Full of mood and giving the viewer a sense of tranquility and hidden beauty. The depth and elegance of the fog…makes this a winner.

A nice scene, well captured, Nick. Pretty nice spot to spend time in quiet reflection. The mood in this image is great, and I like how everything seems to lead the eye to the misty light in background left.

Absolutely superb, Nick. Love those leaning trees, the curve of the creek, the wonderful greens and grasses, everything. And the fog is really icing on the cake that, for me, gives your image a dreamy, impressionistic feel. Stunning.

Very, very nice. Peaceful, with nice colors. Like the highlights on the right side, along with the foggy background and tree shapes in the back center right.

What was the shutter speed? Doesn't seem too long. I can't tell for sure, but I wonder what a long exposure with a nd filter would look like on the water.

I like the mood in this a lot. What attracts me to the scene in the BG on the right side because it looks like such a pleasant place to walk and enjoy nature. I do find the downfall in the stream a bit distracting although it is "real" nature.

Looks like a lovely foggy morning, Nick. Those are so fine for a quiet walk in the woods and this image catches that feeling wonderfully.

Thanks so much for all of your comments on this. This picture feels good to me so I'm glad you liked it as well.
Alan, No, the shutter speed wasn't too long. It would probably look pretty nice with a long exposure but I already had a little problem with the grass moving and didn't want to go any longer with the shutter speed. As it was I waited for awhile to trip the shutter trying to catch the calmest moment that I could. Thanks, Nick

I think the sharp foliage on the sides is what makes this….
They really pop and make the foggy BG more moody.
Very good processing...

Great mood and colors in this one, Nick. The branches are so nicely placed in the creek, and the eye is drawn up the river into the lighter area, then back down again.

Nick, your image conveys the atmosphere of this morning impressively to me.

Although we didn't have snow this winter in Vienna - only for some hours late November- I enjoy the feeling of upcoming spring a lot!
