Inspiration Point, Bryce Canyon NP, Utah

I took this on a very cold and windy November morning, just after sunrise. I love the amphitheaters in Bryce for the exceptional bounce light on the sandstone formations. I liked how the white sandstone framed the orange colors below. Any critiques would be greatly appreciated. Please see the Larger Image for better detail.

Nice take on Bryce and Inspiration Point. That place can glow at sunrise. This shot may be a little foreground heavy for me. Other than that, beautiful. :toast:

Love the color and that wonderful glow. I was a little unsure about the foreground but that went away when I open the large version! Those formations are so impressive to look at.

This is very impressive in the large image, and I am sure would be more so occupying a large wall. The frustration in this venue is putting hugely detailed images as this in the cramped space allotted. Like trying to cram a gallon of water in a pint jar!

Nice work, Scott. You captured the reflected light in the hoodoos really well. The foreground frames the amphitheater well, but its brightness competes a little too much with the interesting hoodoos. Hard to know what to do with that. Still a great image!

Beautiful scene with very nice colors Scott. Only nit is I find the fore ground quite bright. I like how you framed the back round also. Very nice.

You've got a lovely collection of orange colors and a fine soft glow here, Scott. The larger version shows off the details much better. I could see cropping the ridge line and branch off the bottom to add more emphasis to the darker hoodoos down the slope.

Excellent. Fine take on a tough place to shoot well. The comp and light work for me. The bright foreground might have been an issue, but for my eye, the way the whole image has a color and tone gradient for light to darker makes it work quite well.

Beautiful. I actually like the FG because of the excellent detail and the overall contrast is excellent. Beautiful color too.

Scott, my take mirrors others comments, the brighter foreground takes away from the awesome distant and contrasy hoodoos. Cropping (tighter zoom) this one to remove about half of the foreground only would help.

Thank you everyone for the critiques! It seems there is a number of comments about the foreground so I cropped a bit off each side and some on the bottom, does this alleviate the issue?

The repost is much better, IMO. The light foreground is just enough of a frame to draw the eye into the amphitheater. Wonderful colors and light here. Just gorgeous!
