Thanks for the comments on my Milky Way shot. I'm new to night photography; if you night experts have a chance to review the edit, I'd sure appreciate it.

Time to interrupt the Utah trip programming for a Columbia Hills image from Monday. The eastern sky was empty, but the western really took on nice color that lasted for a very long time.

Nikon D7100
Nikon 12.0-24.0 mm f/4.0 at 22 mm (33mm equiv.)
Blend of 1/8 at f/16 and ISO 100, and 1/15 and 1/20 at f/16 and ISO 800
Four images for DOF and DR

Beautiful color for sure John! And it's a bonus when it lasts for more than a couple of minutes!

Wonderful composition John, beyond the great skies I really like the layering of elements in the image and the nice diagonal of the hill through the scene, well seen. :toast:

The sky and foreground are beautifully exposed and the colours are great. I know it was part of the scene, but I really think I would prefer it without the tree.

This is beautiful, John! I enjoy this comp very much and love the wonderful colors. The diagonal line works so well in reference to the horizon line and everything is placed just right in the frame. Excellent work capturing such a nice feel as well. :toast:

Beautiful layers. The wild flowers are lovely and the tree adds some nice character. Excellent image all the way through it

This is real nice, John--love the layers here! You might try to even out the sky brightness a bit (center seems real bright, corners dark) otherwise looks great!

Extraordinary work, John. The composition and color in this image are outstanding. I especially like the way that the storm cloud creates a sort of halo around the tree. Your work is always inspiring!! :toast:

That is rich! Blue lupine in the the f/g is a great eye grabbber and opening to rest of the photo. Well done.

Terrific batch of flowers set off well by the lovely sky. The lowest lupines feel dark to me, I'd like them to catch my eyes a bit more as I start exploring into the image.
