These boulders are becoming ridiculously popular among landscape photographers. Each year
I try to do something different to portray them. In 2013 I think I came up with a new composition. BW is in the heavy brooding style popular among French landscape photographers.

This is a beautiful b&w image, Kah Kit! Love the flow around the boulder and the wonderful textures. Very Nice!

Excellent! Great lines and tones. Maybe do a slight CCW rotation? I like this a lot.

Very cool, Kah Kit. Love the sense of extreme motion in this shot anchored by those impressive boulders. Sweet.

Wonderful flow with the FG leading lines, especially with the 3rds down framing, Kah Kit. I don't see the need for rotation as Harley suggests. Very dramatic and nicely composed.

Looks great! Even though they are ridiculously popular, most of the world has never seen them, so this looks as original as anything I have seen. :toast:

The wonderfully round boulder makes a great centerpiece that's emphasized nicely by the flowing surf curling around it. Great view!

Love the sweeping surf line, brings my eye through the image nicely. They are unique boulders, for sure. I do like your take on them. I might clone out, or tone down considerably that hot spot on the left distant rock.

Love the flowing lines Kah Kit, and the shutter speed is just right. I agree with Harley about a slight CCW rotation.

Looks great to me! Nice tones and shapes. I agree with Harley regarding the slightly tilted horizon. The composition is well seen.

Good job!

I lose the top of the boulder in the white water behind it just a bit, but that's easy enough to live with. This is a lovely image.

good unique take on what is, yes, becoming an iconic site. i wonder whether a step ladder and having your tripod extended as high as it could go might have separated the elements even more? nice tones here though and love the smooth curve of flowing water. well done.

Stuart, it's not possible to separate the elements out anymore. There's a reason why I don't think this composition has been shot before. Firstly this rock is one of the less impressive ones on the beach and is always ignored; one has to get quite close and low to make it look big. Secondly, a step ladder would not me advisable given the high tide needed to shoot this boulder with water around it ;)

Stunning image Kah Kit. And pretty unique take on these boulders, I agree. The dark bw rendition looks great too.

Just one tiny nit. It is better noticable in the larger version: On that rock that comes in from the left side, close to the water, there is a white spot. I think you should clone that one out. It just looks like a pixel defect, at least in this websize.
