This is an abstract of a sand bar along Tenaya Creek in Yosemite Valley. The morning sun was reflecting off of Half Dome, which provided the warm light

It's all good for the photographer's eye. I like, of all things, the meniscus of the still water clinging to the wet soil. Of course, I like the light as well.

Definitely abstract Preston. Makes me wonder if I am looking at it right side up or upside down! One note is that the top of the images is not as sharp as the bottom. Darn fixed plane cameras.

Not an easy find here in this one, Preston. Good eye. These type of scenes are most often by happenstance but also can be very much an epiphany at times too. As an abstract there is plenty of leeway in how someone or anyone can or wants to view a scene like this.

With that said, the only nit might or could be the DOF fall off or plane of focus in the rear area of the image. With any abstract that could or would be more loosely subjective IMO.......

Preston, the white rims around the top and right side pools really grab my attention, so I find myself wishing for them around the rest of the pools. I'm guessing that rim vs no rim is all in what's getting reflected and the viewing angle. There's also a neat glow in some of the sand. I hope you'll try this again.

Fantastic abstract, Preston. Having a hard time wrapping my mind around the forms of the water, the top looking inverted but the bottom upright. Fascinating and love it.

Preston, I have to say, this is quite different, you definitely have a good eye for the small scenes, I like this alot. Beautifully seen and presented.

Preston,

I like the light in this and the presentation but I'm not really connecting with it as an abstract. It seems too real to me. May just be lack of imagination on my part.

I think I've spent too much time crawling around in this stuff trying to get a low angle for birds. (smile)

Technically, I certainly don't have any suggestions.

Preston, This was really a cool find. Almost looks like I'm looking down form an airplane at some mountains and lakes. The reflecting light is also very nice. I do find the soft focus on the upper part a bit distracting but still a very cool image for me.

Quite an abstract, Preston. I agree with Phil, that the most intriguing part of the image is the surface tension between the water and sand. Sort of a metallic feel to it, Nice.
