Wagon Hill Farm & Re-Post

A final image from my recent re-discovery of Wagon Hill Farm. Only 6 miles from where I live, I normally pass it by while traveling elsewhere. The iris don't stay healthy looking for too long, so I hoped for some nice skies to go along with it. No disappointment there. This shot was taken just prior to my previous flower image, hence the similar skies.

Several images stacked for a focal blend at f11, 2 exposures fro the sky exposure. 5D II, 16-35 real close to the first flower.

Just an overall beautiful image. Everything came together for you here, great flowers and a killer sky.

Wow, Harry. Outstanding. It's rare to see such a superb foreground and dramatic skies come together like this. Beautifully composed for both. This web presentation looks a bit over sharpened to me (but I am always reluctant to comment on processing because of my own limitations in that area), but I bet a large print of this image would be just gorgeous. :toast:

Wow, this came together nicely. Beautiful contrasting colors. I agree about the slight appearance of over-sharpening in the foreground flowers.

I agree about the over-sharpening effect. I find that highly detailed images just don't look that great when I save them at such small file sizes. Either too sharp or lacking sharpness. I will try to cut back a bit on future posts. Thanks!

Another vote for gorgeous Harry. I love the rich colors but it's the symmetry in the comp that appeals to me also. Beautiful image.

I do see the over sharpening the others have mentioned but not sure I would have if not mentioned. It's hardly noticeable on my Macbook using Chrome as my browser.

I went a little easier on the sharpening for the web in this version. Hope it is a little easier on the eyes  Needed to save it at 59% for the 200 KB file size limit.

Killer shot and blend Harry. I was going to comment on the sharpening, but it's been addressed. And it's a 300K limit.

That worked out quote well, Harry, and a short drive, too. Classic in every way.

Another beauty, Harry. Great handling of the technical aspects of this complicated image.I love the "in your face " presentation.

Classic image, I love it. Centered composition works well. Great complimentary colors. Other than the sharpening that's been addressed, I might suggest slight dodging in all 4 corners to balance the tones a bit. Was this a vignette applied during post or just a coincidence?

Great lesson in composition with this Harry, the flowers look great beneath the wonderful sky.

Thanks for all of the feedback.

Joel - The vignette wasn't intended, just a byproduct of manually blending the layers of different exposures to what looked good to me. I am not a big fan of vignettes, looks too unnatural to me in most cases. If it is obvious, I think it has failed. So, I will consider lightening up the corners a bit, possibly more the sky than below. I remember a recent comment on a different flowers photo that the shadows looked too opened up, so I wanted to make sure that the flowers took center stage and not in conflict with too much shadow detail. Thanks!
