Evening Heat

A brilliant sunset taken from atop Mount Carrigain in NH's White Mountains overlooking the Pemi Wilderness(NH's Largest). The warm light is by no means indicative of the cold and windy conditions that made this shot more of a challenge, hence the higher ISO.

5DII, 24-105L, ISO 800, f 9.5, 1/20th sec.
2 exposures for dynamic range

I am wondering most about the color balance here, and if it works for folks. The original RAW defaults produced a much redder image using the daylight white balance. I reduced this a bit as the trees looked too red compared to what I remember.

This looks natural and beautiful to me Harry. I don't see any artifacts or mis-balance in exposures and tones. No suggestions.

Harry, I bet you figured what your surname means in German  , so seeing such a Licht-image from you is quite consistent with your name. The color balance looks quite right to me, and it looks believable. Gorgeous shot, as Roel mentioned.

Didl - Yes, my German ancestry was a good match I guess  I had picked up a camera long before I knew the connection though.

Nice job, Harry. I really like the sky and the color of the distant mountains.

Color balance feels very good to me...you did a fantastic job managing the light in your processing too. It may have been cold, but none of that translates and you have a very fine image here.

Nice looking scene Harry, you handled the light very well, those reds are so tricky to deal with. The only thing I can suggest would be to do a little dodging/burning on the mountains to make them stand out more.
