Goldfinch, that is. I really need to get out and find some other subjects. This one is from July 31st. I like this soft version of the plumage that some of the juveniles display.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 2.0TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f8, 1/2500, iso 640, -2/3 stop compensation (not needed in this case, but I had it set for adults against a dark bg), pattern metering, aperture priority. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 8.6MP of the original 16. Taken July 31st at 7:25 am in my backyard.

Your critiques are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Hi Dennis,

Nice lighting with some great detail on the head. You were even able to capture the filoplumes which are the hair-like feathers behind the head............Jim

On a roll with these Goldfinch Dennis. Very nice image-good light, textured perch, and clean background, well done. :toast:

Neat pose and the side lighting looks good Dennis. The comp is unconventional but works reasonably well with the diagonal perch. :toast:

This is a different comp Dennis, but it works. Real smooth BG. Way to think outside the box!
