Wasn't sure looking at the small version, but the large version is quite interesting. Different.

Thanks, Ronald. Yes, I wasn't sure how this shot would show up given the file size (especially if viewed on a phone!). I used my 105mm pretty much exclusively on that trip to Yellowstone, mostly to shoot macro images, but also to try to use its capabilities rather than think of them as limitations. Since DOF at this distance wasn't going to be much with this lens, I went the other way and decided to narrow it and pick a "slice" of focus. Anyway, thanks for the comments--

Tom, I like the mood of the water and gray scene. I do find the dark line of foliage that makes a 45 degree smudge at the top right a little distracting. I would clone the very back foliage with the stuff from the immediate right to remove this perceived line. Other than that very cool.

Interesting image, Tom. I would have preferred the foreground to be tad sharper, but it's fine as-is. I agree about working that spot some. Nice mood, and I like this in B&W.

I like the structure of the composition Tom and I particularly like the contrast between the sharp water droplets and the soft bg area. The tones present work for me as well. I like the image as posted and the mood you've captured.

Shallow DoF sets this one apart. Really nice textures in the foreground and just enough interest in the back for me.

tom, i like this a lot - the DOF, the darkness of the FG which offsets the drops nicely. Not sure I'd change a thing. I would, of course, be interested in seeing some close ups of the dark grasses and drops ...!!
