Double-collared Sunbird

Actually it's Greater Double-collared Sunbird but that doesn't fit in the title box. Photographed in the Storms River Mouth section of Tsitikamma National Park in South Africa. There were some late blooming aloes at the exact same location as the prior year. So they were regularly visited by this species.

Sweet capture of this handsome beauty Nate  I like the separation between the perch and the background aloe. The multi-toned background and angled horizon is cool too.

Excellent Composition!

Nate, this is nicely done. I've found it very difficult to get clear shots of sunbirds, and you've managed to compose it well with the flowers and get those wonderful colors to pop in the light.

Great capture of this sunbird, Nate. The excellent light allowed you to capture the characteristic iridescence very well. The perch and pose are also first rate. :toast:

Bang. Pow. Boom...whatever the right term is to describe the immediate visual impact of this stunner, I can't find it. It does hit you immediately though, with the tremendous shimmering green head to the purple collar and insane reds of the breast...never mind the awesome golds of its perch. Fantastic pose, incredible detail, and very cool compositional elements here, Nate...top shelf image.
