Here's a photo taken last April in Giant's Causeway, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland.
You probably already know this very famous place.
Nothing new in this shot...I did the best I could but I got something very classical.
(Due to work committments I'm not very "active" in the forum...sorry for that

)
Eos 5D MkII, 17mm, f/18, 60 sec, ISO 50, tripod, polarizer, ND filter and GND filter.

15 commentsi do have 2 technical nits, though: a) the whites in the sky are clipped and b) the use of the GND is very obvious

I may disagree about the black spots, depending on the circumstances. If they are permanently visible rocks, they are part of the landscape, and should stay. I they about to be hidden by a rising tide, or if they are not permanent structure, removing them might be a good option. (I am not all that familiar with this place.)
I like the exposure, processing and mood, but the grad made an artificial dark band which could be corrected in further processing, to make this look more natural.
I agree with the fact that the use of GND is
1) evident, especially for the dark cliffs on the bg
2) not enough to preserve the high lights in the sky
it was a sort of compromise with the aim to convey at least the right atmosphere.
I also agree with the fact that the dark spots in the sea can be somehow annoying.
I must say that there was no way to keep them out and that I don't like very much to modify my shots by changing their content.
Thank you all again.
Gary.
The foreground is awesome, and the combination of color, texture and patterns brings so much interest to the image. I love the smooth texture in the water, and colors in the sky. I kind of agree about the grad line, but this is pretty darn sweet as is.
