JDR Fog on the Snake

Way down stream from the throngs of tripods, this shot was taken early on a frosty morning in September as the sun rose on the northern terminus of the Tetons over a foggy Snake River in the John D. Rockefeller Parkway. The fog here is non-thermal despite its proximity to Yellowstone a few miles away.

Thanks for any critiques or comments.

Canon T1i, f/13, 1/25 sec, ISO-200, 154mm, tripod.

The light on the distant ridges and the mist rising off the river work very well here, Dave. I think I'd crop off most of the rocky foreground at the bottom, to a bit below that horizontal log.

Suggested crop from bottom, also took some off of the top which eliminated a spot of sensor dust.

Good choice for the theme, Dave, with the fog being literally on the water. I like this different view of the tetons.

I don't know what all those people upstream were looking at, but they sure missed out on this gorgeous view. (I also tend to avoid crowds.)
Excellent work keeping just the right balance between shadows and highlights. As far as cropping goes, my feeling is that that the repost feels a little too tight, but that's just me. I usually try to absorb the whole scene instead of looking through binoculars. Oh well, sometimes you can't please everyone. I wonder if there might be a compromise?
