Rise and Shine

I found this guy bedded down and using his antlers to scratch his back. Antlers are multi-purpose tools. Now he's rising just as the sun has but hasn't reached this spot yet. I like the moodiness of these mornings with fog or mist. This is the same buck I posted a few posts back with the abnormal rack. Mostly what you see is just the left antler. I did very little to this photo other than crop it to about 60%, added some contrast, and cloned out a few distractions. I didn't think messing with some of the other things would improve this over Mother Nature. I would appreciate suggestions on what I could do to make it better.

Tech Info

Canon EOS 60D with EF 70-200mm at 200mm
1/800th at f/4 and ISO 1000
tripod
Lightroom 5

Not sure what I could tell you to change, maybe a tighter crop, the OOF stuff at the bottom is a bit distractive. It appears if you could have moved to your left a bit you might have been able to avoid some of the OOF stuff. The larger image certainly shows best. An interesting image. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Peter,

This one doesn't grab me. Pretty flat tonally and the pose of the subject isn't particularly flattering (at least for me). And, I do find the objects in the foreground distracting, and more so because they're OOF. I get that this location doesn't deliver up foregrounds that are clean and easy to work with, but that's the challenge to overcome...right?

Cheers...
