I have made this trip by canoe numerous times the last 20 plus years, but the last few trips, in the economy if time, by renting one of the motor boats at Stephen Foster SP. This was from last week along the middle fork of the Suwannee River during bright cloudless conditions, so I composed it to exclude the sky. Cropped to 3:2 aspect from 4/3rds original. Larger image included, which I had to compress a good bit.

Bill, the rippled reflections are a great complement to the dappled light on the trees. This shows off the shapes of the trunks very nicely.

I really like the reflection pattern. The light strikes me as a bit harsh, but it works. I also think it makes a real nice B&W by boosting the contrast, making the reflection really sing.

The rippling reflection creates a nice interplay with the trunks. I can see adding a bit more contrast.

I agree on the contrast and a possible black and white. The ripple reflections are a nice juxtaposition to the cypress trees themselves.

I like the dappled light and I like these swamp scenes a lot.
I think it could use a bit more saturation.

Appreciate the comments. The ripples were a result of the wake created by my boat. Here's the desaturated version.

I really like the composition and the image. I'd go a little darker and more contrast.

I think this is a fine image. But would like to make a suggestion.

To me what makes this image are the reflections and the base of those trees. I would crop the image top down to the bottom of the sky lit area, about 1/3 of the image and then develop a composition for a 3 by 5 image (probably using the right 2/3 of the image.

There is a wonderful color aspect to the reflections and I feel that should be emphasized more. Just my 2 cents.

Bill,

I enjoy the ripples in and the reflections, and how they interact with the tree trunks standing upright. I kind of like Igor's idea of a crop down a bit because it really does emphasize the strongest part of the image. I like the color version of this one too.

Agree with Mark. Good composition and it needs more contrast.
