Another one from my tour last october in the southern swiss alps with fellow swiss landscape photographer Martin Mägli. We hiked for three days in the area of the Matterhorn. This one is from the second morning at Stellisee. There were spectacular cluds but color in the sky was really nice.....

The colors in the sky and lake really set off the Matterhorn well, Roland. I do wonder about having the Matterhorn so centered in the frame.

Doesn't get more perfect than this. Even lighting, great exposure, gorgeous colors, nice focal point and reflection. It is centered in the frame - but I'm going to guess you took some images of it with matterhorn to the left or right as well?

Spectacular Bill. I don' mind the Matterhorn being centered at all. The detail both near and far is outstanding . No nits from me,this is gorgeous . :toast:

Bill, I think you framed this very well considering that you were restricted with the the large rock and the tuft of grass. The lack of clouds doesn't detract from the comp, as the beautiful sky color makes up for it, and the slight decentering brings a bit of tension into it.

spectacular scenario and perfect capture. I appreciate particullary the chromatic separation of the nearly pink sky and the snow (holding a clear white). Also the detail quality is very high....excellent for my tastes.
all the best,
Sandro

Interesting choice of composition for this scene; it seems balanced, with the rock on the right, and the rocky slope on the left. The Matterhorn being centered makes it REALLY stand out, and I think adds a bit of 'wow' factor to the impressive peak. Nice image.

I like the positioning of this with the rock and grass mounds that break up the foreground. Lovely sky.. Special moment!

Lovely. If possible would have tried to get the reflection of matterhorn a bit separated from the island on the right. But dont know the conditions of your shot. Minor nit. Love the color :)

Great colors in this Bill and I really like your comp. It really sets the mountain off nicely. Really nice reflection and processing. :toast:

I'm a fan of alpen glow images anyway and this one doesn't disappoint. Those lovely pastel colors in the sky really are perfect.

I see what you mean Aaron Feinberg about getting the reflection of the Matterhorn seperated from the island......and I agree with you. that's what I don't like here in this shot....but I really tried to get it seperated but I didn't work.......thanks for your feedback

Gorgeous rendition of this location. It's a pity the reflection could not be separated from the rock but that's a minor issue for me.

Very nice image of an icon. I think the Matterhorn being centered works here. you might consider cloning out the 'floaties' between the tuft of grass and the reflection of the mountain. Nice color and contrast.

Beautiful color and reflection, Bill. A lot of empty space in the top third, but in considering other comp possibilities I can't come up with a better one. :toast:

The colors of the sky and reflection are marvelous. And I think that the "symmetry breaking" caused by the rock outcrop in the lake works well.
