Nikon D800e-600mm Nikkor-1/200-f/11-ISO 100-Tripod

Hope I didn't get too specific on the description. Apologies to the experts, but I'm a bird guy. Just thought that this may be of some interest here, as it was taken with a 20 year old 600mm Nikkor at about twenty feet.

Excellent DF image, Todd. The 600 worked well here to separate the subject from the nice bg. Excellent detail/sharpness with that 20 yr old 600. devil

Beautiful and tack sharp.  I like the oval yellow bg behind the DF.  Looks like its having lunch.devil

Todd ..thats a beautiful DF image..and the bg sets this off very well. Nice piece of work. personally I would have made this a reguular 2:3 format with less of the perch?..again thats a personal thing..

It's a fine look at a female Blue Dasher, Todd.  That long lens gave you excellent dof on the insect and good separation from the nicely complementary background.  While Balan's suggested crop would be good, I like this one because it creates a strong sense of this df perched at the tip of the tallest support around so it can view the surroundings.  That's a standard behavior for this df.

Thanks for the kind words, suggestions, observations, and identifications, folks. Thanks especially for letting me intrude on your intensely detailed world with my snapshot.

Todd: Great  use of your long lens. I especially like how your subject is rendered against the smooth BG. Congrats on the WP and for a superbly crafted image.>=))>
