Another from the Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas. I think this is probably the same bird as the last one of these I posted, but I'm not positive.
7Dii, 500mm f4 ISL, hand held (probably propped on the railing of the boardwalk), f/8.0, 1/2000, iso 1250, aperture priority, center weighted average metering with +2/3 stop compensation. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Straightened, cropped and canvas added to left and a bit on the bottom. Final size was 16.2MP. Numerous unsightly debris patches above the bird cleaned on this one-tried to leave enough to provide some interest to the bg. Taken February 22nd at 7:54 am.
Your critiques are always appreciated.

6 commentsGood shot of the heron feeding. I like the composition and crop with the symmetry between the heron and the nice reflection.
I really like the reflection in this one and the trailing water off the beak. Nice work Dennis
Good look at this tricolored -- I like the curved neck --might try to take out the mud drop under the neck and the two mud drops under the tail -- minor nit on a good image
The reflection makes the image for me, although the species itself appeals as well. Nice symmetry you created. Very nice image, Dennis ! Cheers, Hans
Hi Dennis, like the symetery with the refelction, athough it may be optical, I like the fact the reflection is slightly darker, gives some 'weight' to the image.

What a wonderful image of this tricolored heron. I always like reflections, but this one is really symmetrical and I agree with Steve that the darker reflection gives some weight to the image. I also like the details in the feathers.
