The Sun meets the River

by Mike Ramy

This is my favorite time of day as the setting Sun meets the River when it is time to relax and reflect after the day's adventure. This image is unique to me as I have very few Sunset Images were the Sun is actually the lease important element in the composition. I did manage to include it in the lower left however, even though it is not a major compositional element, it is the reason for all the other elements to be so prominant. Full frame, hand held from boat.

Gorgeous detail on the clouds and water, Mike, and the flock of birds is at the right place!

Beautiful colors, right on time to keep everything with enough light to see details and at the same time to show the colors in the sky. The flock of birds at exactly the only position where we can see them without disturbing the effects in the sky. I like it.

Gorgeous, peaceful scene with the flock of birds adding lots of interest to the sky. Not sure about the orange dot of the sun on the far right. It does distract my eye a little, but it's still a lovely image with it in. Love the colors and quality of light.

Nicely done. It's amazing that you were able to get that level of steadiness in a boat at 1/40 SS. I can't do it on dry land. The water reflections are nice and the orange on top of those clouds is special. The birds are the stars and strategically located. I might consider cropping a bit from the top to create a slighly more panoramic frame and give it a sense of even more space. Just an option, because it's fine the way it is.

Great timing on the birds and the sun. Real nice colors and a very well done image. This will make a fine print.

Beautiful Mike.  Love the birds and the composition works very nicely. I'm pretty sure there is no way that I could hand hold @ 1/40. Not a chance. Really nice work.

Love all the structure in the clouds along the horizon, Mike.  The birds are perfectly placed, the colors are lovely, and the hint of sun adds well to the story.  Looks like a terrific evening to be out on the water.

Those birds really are what makes this image, leaves you wondering where they're heading. Great shot!

Hi Mike,

This is a beautiful sunset, and I feel rejuvenated while i take in this scene. The combination of cool blues, the flock of birds, and warm oranges make this scene work very well for me.

Beautiful image

Sometimes everything just comes together. An inspired photographer collides with an inspired sunset sky & viola'laugh

I like most the relaxed feel this imparts, and that flock of birds headin' left-right.

Truly inspired Mike, very well donedevil
