I came across these small columbines in a greenhouse packed tight with alpine plants.  There was no way I could get a better composition of this delightful group, but I thought them worthy of a view.  I've included a large version, but they probably look best in the smaller one.

Ian, there's a nice soft focus, dreamy feeling to this image.  I could wish for a bit more space on both sides and you might be able to do that easily using photoshop and content aware fill.

The soft colors go very nicely with the soft light.  The selective focus works well too.

Delicate flower and presentation which I like very much.  The huge border overpowers the scene.

Hi Ian,

The background and 3 columbines that are in focus are very nice.  The soft colors are awesome.  More space is needed  as the composition is pretty tight.......................Jim

Delightful image, Ian. I like the soft, airy, pastel look, and the terrific bg. Excellent dof management. devil

Thanks, everyone, for the comments.  I left this tight as I did not want these small flowers to float too much in the frame but I think this repost is indeed better.

Ian, the soft focus is good in the small image, not so much in the larger. It is a pleasantly soft arrangement of a nice grouping.cool

Ian - Repost is a big improvement. You composed the three plus a few buds harmoniously - that can be quite a challenge for someone like me.

One suggestion I have for you is to revisit your process of uploading the large file. For the 1MB plus allowance the file ought to look much richer.

Ian: The softness of focus and color works really well for me. Nice work on the repost; makes an already good effort even better. >=))>

The repost with the smaller frame and more space works well.  I like the soft focus, somewhat ethereal felling in the small view, which I agree with you is better than in the larger version.  I like the contrasting background as well.

Not much to fault here. A perfect trio also showing buds and a great background.

Beautiful use of soft light, Ian - almost a watercolor! The repost works much better in my view, especially the less intrusive border.

A beautiful floral photo Ian. I too prefer the reposted version. I love the delicate and elegant look and the low saturation of the flower colors.
