Kanha Tiger Reserve is one of the most beautiful parks in India.
The forest in the winters is incredibly beautiful, thanks to the tall mist-laden sal trees, and the flowering of the Saccharum grass (white in the background of this picture). Though the chill seeps into your bones, the morning safari can offer fantastic light for photography. If you are lucky, you can also hope for a tiger sighting amidst the gorgeous Saccharum grass.

7 commentsFor some reason, this image didn't immediately resonate with me. I think it would be more powerful with a slighlt tighter crop. For me, as presented, the tiger seems a bit lost in the image. Croppping some off the bottom, left and top might make the tiger stand out more
Hi Sachin,
I really like this shot - just a great overall scene and so peaceful. To me the subject position is near perfect and I love how the cat seems so relaxed in the water. About the only suggestion I would make would be to take just a sliver off the bottom - (about 1/3 of the distance between the bottom of the frame and where the shoreline starts on the left side of the frame) - I think that would "ground" the subject just a little more. But that suggestion is more personal preference than anything else...
Cheers...
Brad
I'd agree with Brad on the slight crop... and I think this is one that probably gets better the bigger you see it. Any plans for a large print? I like the overall scene a lot. I'd be tempted to clone out that one wispy branch reaching out toward the tiger's head (if you're OK with that kind of thing).
Sachin,
This is a very nice image. and I am OK with the inckusion of the habitat and the crop.
You certainly did better than I did in Kanha
Nice setting, Sachin. You're right in pointing out the grass. I think the pattern of white tufts adds a lot to this image.
I fully agree with Brad's crop suggestion.

This one feels like a definition of tranquillity! I find the white heads of the tall grasses are a nice enhancement. Fine image as posted...and a crop as suggested is a solid alternative.
