Canon 1D-X, 500mm x 1.4 teleconverter, hand held
f11, 1/1000, ISO 500

This flock of drakes was reacting to a Bald Eagle overhead. I'd like to have gotten the other five whose tracks are on the left, but never with a prime. Really curious if you all think this works.

75% of full frame (cropped out a lot of muddy field at the top. Selective djustments to Shadows to bring out a little detail in the heads.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

I like the energy and the separation of the birds inthe image, Jim.  I think it would work better as even more of a pano with the upper left corner right where the shore starts.  Unfortunately that bisect the wings of the leading bird and I'm not sure it would look right with that one cloned out either.  The five unoccupied tracks add something to the image for my taste.

Excellent processing and action, Jim. The repetitive splashes and wakes really add to the action.devil

Excellent dynamic feeling.  Agree with Dennis maybe less of the land.

I've come back to this image several times over the last week or so, Jim.

I have to disagree with the other posters. IMHO it's a sunk image. Very busy and lacking a point that my eye can pause and enjoy before I'm escorted out of frame without a pathway back in. Looking at the upper left bird and it's reflection makes me wonder what a shot of the four lead birds would have yielded without so much broken water and chaos.

Hope your unpacking is going smoothly.
